Re: Higher Fuel Prices Coming

"rebound" or "back to where they belong"

These are wishful thinking styled forecasts.

The prices may stay low for an unknown period of time. Or drop further somewhat. Or else start slowly climbing up again.

Think what if electric cars step in then the oil game will be an all new game. You cannot have a nuclear reactor in a car, can you. You cannot step into any country and take out their government or king. But you can keep prices low and have the citizens of an oil price reliant country take out their politics and kings with their bare hands. Big money. Big politics.

That's why I would not play oil futures right now. Still, I would hedge, if my business margins relied on oil prices.

Re: Higher Fuel Prices Coming

barnikel....you are correct....Big Business-Big Politics are keeping this gas pricing going in "their direction". Presently we the "little guys" in many locations/countries are benefiting....where is it intended to go...."they" know. Unfortunately some will suffer before it stops . Possibly even entire economies of a nation/s...for betterment of all mankind I hope not.

Re: Higher Fuel Prices Coming

Southwest airlines made a very smart move buying cheap oil futures, before the last run up and they were able to stay profitable long into the higher fuel prices, and I expect they will be doing more of the same at this time. Since the last run up; $100 dollar per barrel has been the new bench mark, and as things readjust and we have continued unrest in the middle east, you can count on the oil prices to rebound.
