Do you have any documentation supporting the veracity of the alleged quotation?
None whatsoever.

If, as in this case, there is no reason to believe that Cicero actually uttered the words, it’s either intellectually dishonest, or lazy, to try to(falsely) bolster the notions on the back of Cicero’s high repute.
The words and ideas should be allowed to stand or fall on their own merit.

As Zach’s link says:
"... No evidence has been found to confirm that Cicero said these words, and it is almost certainly spurious..."

I found this

on another quotations site Quote Details: Cicero: The national budget must... - The Quotations Page

so it looks like he may actually have said it.

Sorry to be rude and jump in unannounced, this is my first post in over 2 years, having just drifted back in again

Welcome back Neil!
What it actually looks like is that Rand Lindsly repeats the apocryphal attribution.
Endless repetition is not evidence.

I know

I didn't go any further back to check than Rand Lindsly's list 'cos I got distracted by the kids

Be nice if it was true though.

An eye witness or a skeptic -

Something funny though. If I said these words, no one would listen. But if I say, Cicero said, or Tom Hanks said, or Madonna said, there is somehow new credence to the words for many people.

Cicero - dead a long time
Tom Hanks - interesting actor and movie maker
Maddona - nuff said...

Sorry for the confusion, boys.

I was referring to Frankie Cicero. A 55 year old from British Columbia. (55BC). Runs a nice pizza joint in Vancouver.

Words kinda make you think, though.

He also wore #55 when he played linebacker for Boston College.

Wasn't "Frankie Cicero" a type of light chicken gravy! I think so.

He started out at Broward Community College before the transfer to BC, but he kept the #55 for good luck (55 BCC). He had a really attractive sister, Madonna, but I was always too scared to ask her out. Cicero was a big boy!
