Life as a Digital Nomad

I am halfway through my first ever private consulting job and its been a revelation to us. It suddenly seems feels feasible to cruise indefinitely, unbound by the need for a land-based employment.

The major challenges we can see are stable internet connections, mobile phone coverage, occasionally needing to be in striking distance of transport/airport to commute for a meeting, and calm anchorages without too many distractions. The benefits are enormous, and living our lifestyle is now so simple and costs so little that the pressure to work 11 months of the year is completely gone now.

For people like us, for whom cruising is not about escaping the world but rather finding a better way to live in it, it feels like a sustainable, balanced approach. We're really excited about the future!

I'd love to hear from others about their experiences telecommuting and working remotely. What do you love? What are the challenges?

In the meantime, here is a photo taken from my office window last week ... yeah, I hate myself a little bit too

Re: Life as a Digital Nomad

Oh, and I meant to include a link to this website I came across in one of my less productive afternoons which includes interviews with other "digital nomads", not all boat-based, including Pat Schulte from Bumfuzzle.
