Marina Troubles

Wow, so I didn't even officially have ownership of my new boat and I already had my first Marina Nightmare.

My wife and I were just about to get a head start on cleaning our new boat. The deal had not been finalized (no cash exchanged), but the Marinas launch day is coming really quickly. So we figured we would get a head start on some little things. The PO and I had talked and we had discussed all the details, but he was going out of town for the weekend.

Anyways, we were just about to expend some elbow greae and the Marina operator comes up and basically says the PO owed $2300 in back dues, and he would not launch. I was pretty angery as this was something I specifically asked the PO. We packed up out cleaning stuff and went home so I could e-mail the PO and find out WTH was going on.

Turns out the PO had paid, had all the receipts and the Marina just plain sucked at book keeping but figured it was better to try to get paid again, just in case. I will be pretty happy when I get my boat out of there and into it's new home.

Unless we can hear both sides of the story, we prefer not to attack a business.

I for one would be interested in hearing a factual, rational, non-hysterical account of what happened to veteran forumer Greenman. This is really valuable information and we're all capable of applying the proverbial grain of salt to such stories where appropriate.

Do you mean to say that we are not allowed to post factual, calm accounts about bad experiences with businesses, unless someone tracks them down and gets them to post their own spin on the situation? That would be a quite bizzarre policy which would severely limit the usefulness of the forum. Surely this is not the actual policy.

You may PM Greenman for details if you like - this is not a place for ranting and raving. There are two sides to every story so we don't allow one sided conversations.

Dockhead (& others) - Please take a look at the forum rules posted here - http://www.cruisersforum.com/?page=rules

Ya, it wasn't a huge deal, just bugged me because I lost a long weekend of boat prep due to bad book keeping. I wasn't out any money one way or the other.

I just thought it was funny that I wasn't even a yacht owner officially and I already had my first "marina story".

LOL kinda like a right of passage. I guess.

I took it that way Greenman. i.e. welcome to boat ownership. Let the thuosands of niggling little annoyances begin!

To be completely offset of course each time you hoist the sails and show your stern to the shore...
