Mooring, Marina, or Private Dock?

Good morning:

I just signed up for the 5 day sailing course with water sailing">Blue Water Sailing School this upcoming spring. After I finish this course, I'd like to purchase a 27' sailboat for weekends, some coastal cruising, or going down to the Keys with the wife.

I am currently living in Miami near Dinner key marina. What are some options I have for the S/V? I have been reading about the difficulties of finding marina space, mooring, etc because the developers are taking all the good marinas.

Are mooring slips transferable? Am I better finding a private dock? Should I look for "parking space" before finding the S/V?

Could you keep it to a trailerable boat for now? Even in the undeveloped part of Forida (Yes, it exists) slips cost $400 a month.
