OFFSHORE INSURANCE POLL

For those that require offshore insurance for cruising what company did you decide to go with? Please post information below that describes why you chose the company that you did, how the service is, what company you may have switched from, etc. etc. Also, if you have had a claim, how did that go getting reimbursed?

If you do not see your company listed in the poll, please post a note below telling us about it.

I went with T L Dallas (Besso, Ltd broker) on price for the last two years here in the Caribbean, but had been with IMIS (Jackline) before, and would go with them again. Good company.

I have TL Dallas through IMIS. Coverage for the Atlantic and the Pacific.

FWIW - Jack Martin is an insurance agency (they represent many different underwriters), not an "underwriting" company.

Jackline - because they don't require us to find a third person for offshore passages.

Jackline - their customer service and claims service are outstanding. They may not be as cheap as some policies, but we feel that we get what we paid for and more.

I am having a devil of a time getting any insurance for an older boat. Very frustrating and one of the least customer service oriented businesses I have ever experienced.

Insurance

I had Jackline because they seemed to value offshore experience and they were willing to work with specific needs. Seems like they know what they are insuring. Did not have any claims, but they were very very helpful in getting things arranged.
