Provisioning Discount / Card

When provisioning for our vessel in the Bahamas in front of me at the check out line was a Stu for a 120’ vessel (foreign flagged Portugal). Before rendering payment he flashed a card that resulted in a substantially large discount (bag of chips went from 6$ to 1.50$).

What am I missing here? Is there some special deal for such vessels? How can I get in on that action?

Many of the grocery and provisioning companies in the Caribbean offer discounts for yachts. Here in St Maarten provisioning is a huge business as it is the winter home for most of the large yachts. Crew deal directly with the wholesale restaurant supply companies and grocery stores, some of which are available online. when you go to a large grocery store ask if they have a provisioning discount for yachts before you start shopping.
