Re: Stay away from Pantaenius Yacht Insurance Why? read below..

@ Dave S:

You don't pay Pantaneus, you're not their insured. How you might be able to work it is to make a claim to your own insurance company. If they think Pantaneus is responsible, they'll go after them, ins. co. to ins. co., and Pantaneus would reimburse them for your costs. Your own company should cover your claim, especially if you can document that the harbour master told your neighbor to replace his lines right away.

Re: Stay away from Pantaenius Yacht Insurance Why? read below..

there are good and bad dealings with everything and everyone ,,
Im sure most people know this , i have been with Pantaneous for 4 years and had a breakin in dec 2016 they were quick to finaliase the claim when we gave them the police report number ,
They were very understanding ,

But the old saying ,
"you cant please everyone all the time "

Like me i use to many commas ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Im sure it gets up someones nose ,,but not others ,,,
Im sure we would all like to know the drama , I hope it gets sorted ,, Best of luck

Maybe your problem is living in a country where an "act of god" is actually a thing...

Why?

I find the fact that existence of a legal concept that refers to an imaginary entity is accepted as a matter of fact rather puzzling.

Puzzling? You bet! And the fact that it is generally accepted as a reasonable means of denying accountability is scary to me.

we had Pant.. on our tripp from northen Europa to Carib and back, our davits cracked on our way home and we had to return to BVI for repairs, welding, they did not cover it. boat is from 2011. and davits where not overloaded, Make sure to read the text what they cover. we will not use them again. read it well, and you will find a lot of holes where they will not cover.

Maybe I'm particularly dense this morning, but I don't get it.... the OP's boat was hit by a poorly maintained other boat. The OP's insurance is Pantaenius and is refusing to pay for damages? Or is Pantaenius the negligent boat's insurance?

I went with Pantaenius here in the EU after glowing reviews by the old owner of my boat.... haven't had to test it yet thankfully

Careka, my homeowner insurance doesn't cover the breakdown of appliances, and my boat insurance doesn't cover an engine or other equipment failures from usage, wear and tear. I don't expect it either.

Most important coverage is for liability to cover losses to others one causes. If an insured owner caused damage to another, most likely his insurance should cover the harmed party.

You almost got me on that one, "our davits cracked", then I realized you're probably trolling to see who would think that it's a reasonable claim - subtle you are.
