Re: Surveyor Lower Keys

There's a guy in KW named Reef Perkins who does them. I have seen his surveys and I have seen the subject boats..... Personally, I would not retain Reef, HYMMV. No further elaboration will be forthcoming.

I'm looking at an older boat, so a good surveyor is critical. I prefer good to convenient in this case.

BoatUS maintains a list of approved surveyors. Start there.

That's a good idea, but it would be nice to find someone that a member here has had a good experience with or can recommend.

Im sure theres got to be a good surveyor or two in the Miami area, I can tell you NOT to use Marine power and sail marine surveyors inc, Scott Grabner out of Daytona.

Glad to see Reefer is getting the attention he deserves.

Have you already decided to buy the boat and need a survey to negotiate price and get insurance? If so try Nathan Spaulding, he's SAMS, The Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, Inc.® - (SAMS®) I do not know him and have not surveyed a boat after him, but he was recommended to me by a former colleague whom I highly respect. If you want/need a survey to decide whether or not you should be buying the old boat then maybe have a look at some posts I made to a guy who was considering a project boat http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ida-73423.html.
