I agree. We did the opposite - shipped ours from UK to Aus just over a year ago. No chance at all of USD20k, even if in the opposite direction.

Go visit you tube and look up Sailing for Six. A young kiwi couple with 4 young kids buy a x charter Leopard in the north east of the Sea of Cortez Mexico then set off on a lifetime’s adventure. Regards Rog

Hey Pedro from Perth, I am ozzie, purchased Jeanneau 43 in 2011 in Slovenia, not too much trouble to improve safety for our 3 kids under 10, netting around the life lines and some mods below. I echo comments below, the yards around Preveza (Lefkas) are chokkers with boats, check out google earth, there are decent buys to be had. Good luck

I have contracted a freighting company and they quoted me $25000 (USD) to ship it to a port in the UK. Is there a more economical way to transport a boat from Australia to Europe?

Thank you in advance.
Charter a yacht..why buying?
If you worried 'losing' money don't get involved with boats.
I got my Australian yacht in the Philippines, easy and enjoyable.

You could pay someone to sail it TO Europe. A friend of mine, currently in StMaarten might be interested. He, an ex-merchant seaman/helmsman, sailed a small yacht from Ireland to there.

There is considerable confusion around this issue. ( RGR: returned goods relief ) so much so that the CA is campaigning to get clarification.

The letter of the law is that RGR is only available to EU tax residents.

This means a non EU person with a vessel benefiting from say the withdrawal agreement to maintain vat status must not export the vessel. Exporting is defined as taking it beyond the 12 Mile customs union waters.
