US Insurance Cover for UK Sailor with US Ship (Chesapeake)?

Hi, I'm finding it really hard to find an insurance company that will cover me in the USA, none of the UK ones do it (that I can find) and I'm told you need a US drivers license to get insured by a US company.
The marina I'm interested in requires insurance.
Any ideas?

Capt J,

Have you checked with the London brokerage firm of Besso Ltd? I have a policy with them that allows the boat to be kept in the Caribbean and in Florida throughout the year, but laid up during hurricane season. The underwriters for the policy are a combo of T.L. Dallas and Lloyds.

EDIT: just found out that although Besso has renewed my existing policy, they are no longer placing new policies for small yachts. I have removed the contact information at their request.

Cheers Hud,
I spoke with them and they were very helpful, though my yacht isn't worth enough for them to cover, they directed me here - Ferryman Underwriting Agency Limited
Their office is closed now, but it looks hopeful, I shall ring them on Monday.

I just got an email from Quentin Brooksbank, my insurance agent, saying that "due to the economics and legislative restrictions we can no longer proceed with any new placements of this type." As you noted, Capt. Jaz, he suggests contacting
