22' Mcgregor venture swing keel refurbish

I Just bought 22' Mcgregor Venture, I need to refurbish swing keel my plan is to use epoxy to resurface cast iron leveling pits and truing up its surface I have to replace cable and hardware for it anyway would appreciate feedback also looking for proper hardware I want to do this right my hope was to get it in the water at least once this season but with all the stories I've read it's better to get it right

How old is the rigging?

Best job on the solid metal keel/center board is to take it to a sand blaster. Fill the holes and fair with epoxy and Cabosil. I prefer US Composites for epoxy and fillers. They have a recommended resin and filler for keels.

Check all chain plates and mountings, terminals for the stays. Some older boats were pretty light on backing plates and such. Add them if they are missing. I used 1/8” x 2” aluminum from Home Depot on my 60’s Tornado and bedded them in glass and epoxy.
