Had a similar sort of problem with a F and C 44 that we bought in Rhode Island. Later on a few years later in San Diego the US Customs seized the papers as we put it up for sale. We could not prove that it had been imported and duty paid. S and S in New York who had arranged for the boat to be imported had lost the paperwork or it was thrown out. Took the boat back to the East Coast and sold it in Houston after talking to the Customs there. They said it didn't worry them. They were too busy !!! Also we found that Texas officials were somewhat more friendly than those back in Cali.
