America’s Cup - ETNZ launches 1st AC75 (new)

American Magic doing really well and leading from the start. Some audio from TNZ boat sounds like they have some boat difficulty - definitely not very smooth.

And now a tacking duel on the last windward leg!!!!

TNZ passed AM at the last top mark, then let them off by gybing away and falling off the foils. AM got the lead again and held it to the finish, with a close lead. Definitely looked the faster boat and TNZ made a bunch of handling errors.

Wow, what a race!!!!

I was just about to write the same thing. Wow, just Wow...

That's a real reminder that we could see some unbelievable two boat racing during this event.

As you said, there was even an old school style tacking duel!

Re: America’s Cup - ETNZ launches 1st AC75 (new)

I'm suspecting they changed something significant between the two races, didn't look like the same boat at all. And cool of Burling to just get out of the way at the last mark even though it cost the race. Way more important to keep the boat in one piece - only one race matters.

Good to see them get back into that race even with all the mistakes at the start and landing in the water so much. They had no right to be able to do that given how badly the boat was handling compared with the first race.

The site says races will be available on youtube to watch after the race is over. The link someone posted above takes me to a site that wants $174 for the America's cup package. Is there somewhere I can watch free after the fact?

On the AmerciasCup.com website the also have the Live Feeds:

https://www.americascup.com/en/live

The Virtual Eye (better than the one on YouTube because it's interactive with more info)

https://www.americascup.com/en/advanced-dashboard

And here is a link to the replays (Day 1 is already posted there):

https://www.americascup.com/en/relive

Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/AmericasCup...=page_internal

Internet Radio (if someone can't stream video you can listen to live commentary from Peter Montgomery)

https://www.iheart.com/live/gold-am-8669/

And here is a big summary including all of the normal TV Channels:

Virtual Eye stream on YouTube:

(but I think they might change that link each day)
The first link has no races from this week.
The second is not available in my country, U.S.

Thanks for the tips gang. That last race was a good one. Virtual Eye is an excellent perspective.

I suspect the replays will be posted on YouTube in due course.

The replays are already up on the AmericasCup.com website, see my other posts above.

Or check the LiveSailDie link to see what cable TV channel might be available to you.

Get a VPN and connect to Hong Kong. Poof, you got the race live on YouTube! I think NBC is blocking it in the US, they want their $175. I’ve had a VPN for years and it’s a lot cheaper than NBC plus you don’t have to watch NBC commercials.

The other advantage is you get the Kiwi announcers who are VASTLY better and more knowledgeable.

With a little YouTube digging here are some more links, please check if they are blocked in the USA (or other countries too):

Past Live Streams:

https://www.youtube.com/c/americascu...&live_view=503

Upcoming Live Streams:

https://www.youtube.com/c/americascu...&live_view=502

I added them to my big post above as well.

Well, the YouTube commentators are led by the American Ken Read, but he is a serious racing sailor, the the Kiwi Stephen McIvor who is not a sailor as far as I know, and then they have Shirley Robertson, a British Olympic sailor, and Nathan Outteridge who is an Aussie and past AC sailor so of course really knows his stuff.

https://www.northsails.com/sailing/e...f-commentators

I can also watch the TVNZ (Television New Zealand) Live coverage, and they have a whole lot of people that I don't know and who are not sailors... plus well known Kiwi sailors Peter Lester and Phil Robertson.

However TVNZ frustrated me by playing ads, missing the start of Race 2, and not being in sync with Virtual Eye (at least not for me) so that wasn't a good start today...

So instead I ran the YouTube Live Feed (same feed as from AmericasCup.com) on one screen, and the Interactive Virtual Eye on another, which worked quite well.
