Anyone dreaming about living on a cruise ship?

A beautiful and ambitious dream I know. But imagine travelling the world while at the comfort of your own home. I have no idea how that will work but ehhh might as well dream right? How about you guys?

You do know this forum is about sailing right?

Most here would cringe at the idea of being on a cruise ship.

Re: Anyone dreaming about living on a cruise ship?

This is better than your average Ponzi scheme. Find a dilapidated old cruise ship on its way to the scrap yard and give it a cosmetic touch up. Invite wealthy old people to invest everything in the dream. Your own private yacht at a pittance. Crew it with unlicensed poorly paid hands who will be first in the lifeboats. Flag it in the Antarctic. Is Tom Selleck going to quit hawking reverse mortgages and sell deck chairs now?
Inquiring manatees vote for Lloyd Bridges as he at least owns a wetsuit. They could photo shop the Jerry Seinfeld segment where he played Mr Menbelbaum and pulled Jerry behind a pickup with a rope. Maybe a stuffed replica of the Love Boat cast could greet prospective buyers.
Yeah...it’s a dream alright. They are called nightmares.
The manatee crew in the absence of our captain.

Cheaper monthly costs then an old folks home. (Around $4000 a month here?) Better food. And probably better doctors.

Maybe when I’m 80.

Re: Anyone dreaming about living on a cruise ship?

In what sense is such a lifestyle ambitious?

A few years ago there were several articles about how efficient this would be. I don't believe the authors were ever able to find anyone who was actually doing it full time.

Re: Anyone dreaming about living on a cruise ship?

It's sort of the opposite of my dream. I'd rather be at deserted beaches, or cool little beach bars as in the Grenadines. Never waiting in lines, or having to shuffle in a big crowd getting off the ship, and then not really getting to explore anywhere, just confined to the tourist area, or worse yet, some completely fake fabrication of "island life," then have to hustle to get back on the boat. Eating glorified cafeteria food all the time, just contributing to the waste and excess that's the current bane of our oceans.

No thanks.

Living on a cruise ship? A good definition of purgatory...

But Jim, you DO live on a cruise ship. A 46 foot cruise ship.

I'm thinking I could get most of the experience of living on a cruise ship by robbing a liquor store then putting a poster of a tropical island on the wall of my prison cell...

Seems many of you disagree with living on a cruise ship lol. How so? I mean isn't it efficient?

1. Cruise ships are counter to how almost everyone on this forum wants to live.

2. Efficient?!?! In what regard? Burning tons of heavy fuel for opulence? Transporting concentrated trash or sewage to various ports? Living in a petting dish?
