Best and Worst part about being on the Ocean?

Im doing research on shipcrews and i am wondering what you enjoy the most when you are at sea? and what you miss the most?
Any response is greatly appreciated.

My first response is how about introducing yourself ...who you are...research for whom...what interest do you have in sailing...do you sail...? IMHO

Enjoy the most: solitude and a deep connection to the sheer scale of the ocean/nature/night sky...


Miss the most: sound sleep of being in my home/sleep in general, pets/woodland wildlife (not that can't pull off dog or cat on a boat, but the cons of having a pet are numerous and those cons are VERY significant if looking to sail to a number of specific countries than if one were staying within a given set of countries), handful of friends/family, and that it is far more feasible to inch closer to true sustainability on a forested/farm land-base...

My favorite part is the allure of new isolated islands ahead where I can anchor and explore.

Enjoy:

Sunrise while at the helm.

Dolphins at night in the bow wake when there's a lot of bioluminescence in the water.

Testing skills and decision making when things go south in rough weather.

Worst part: trying to fix something vital that doesn't want to be fixed.

Miss the most: Being out there. Every day away from the boat during cruising season is excruciating.

Best: watching the world come alive each day, with the pre-dawn light.

Worst: feeling cold, sick, wet, and terrified. Fortunately for me, the time I was most frightened, I was only sick and terrified, not cold and wet as well.
