Brokers or not?

As owner of my third boat (45 ft Bav) and thinking about putting her on the market, I would like to listen to your view on the value of brokers’ stunning comission of 8-10%.

My experience from several transactions is that they drop in to take some photos with their phone, have it published on the internet and channel question from potential clients to the seller, before showing the boat. Finally, they shuffle some contracting and transaction stuff between buyer and seller.

So, what are the pros and cons of selling the boat yourself, using the many contract templates available and involve a notary for the financial transaction?

Cons:

1) Lack of access to Yachtworld

2) Having to field a large volume of calls and E-mails.

3) Having to show the boat to a conga line of unvetted dreamers and tire kickers.

4) Getting repeatedly ghosted after time spent on #2 & #3.

5) Need to setup your own escrow

6) avoiding scammers

Pros:

1) You save the commission fee
