In the meantime I’m now going to either be forced to drive to Nevada and buy a years supply at a time or burn isopropyl or vodka in my stove..
Get a couple cans of mineral spirits (paint thinner) while there, when I asked my wife to get some at Walmart she said "They looked at me like I was crazy".

Few complained when 2 stroke engines were banned, now it's burning alcohol, what commodity products come next?

California: Where you can shoot heroin (with a government-supplied needle) in front of SF City Hall, poop on the sidewalk, and buy weed at the corner store, but God forbid you use a plastic straw.

Re: California bans the sale of Denatured Alcohol

Since everything in California causes cancer, what is the State's reasoning for banning alcohol. Use it as a solvent for epoxy as well as stove fuel. Now I'm going to have to find a substitute for working with epoxy other than Acetone which flashes off too quickly. Oops, ignore that last, if the State thinks the stuff will evaporate they will surely ban it.

Rubbing alcohol is watered down alcohol so useless for stove fuel or solvent.

We've been thinking of moving to CA because of the Grand Kids but the more I have to deal with the States stupid regulations the less appetizing it becomes. Other than Mexico doesn't seem to be any where on the Left Coast that hasn't lost their minds.

YES, the inmates are running the Asylum, please don't encourage them any more.

Oh, when it gets bad enough, move or go cruising offshore!

The weather here is the best year round. No State has better. Born here. Lived all over the Pacific basin. But we residents frequently call it Nazi California. It is beyond crazy.
Recently Berkeley passes a new city ordinance that no new residences would be allowed to use natural gas. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Hell, I'm in Nevada and a newbie. Maybe I should bring a truck load down in return for sailing lessons??? ;-)

actually I would have to disagree with you on the weather comment .
Puget sound is much better . No Santa Ana winds And rarely actually need air conditioning. Lots more coast for cruising in Puget sound . Not quite as crazy as Cali
You can still buy denatured alcohol ( ethanol with about 2% methanol to make it poison )
you can still use plastic straws. ( its not straws that are the problem ) plastic bags are banned in many places ( much bigger issue than a few straws. )
And no income tax

It seems California has also banned mineral spirits?
Maybe due or VOC’s? But isn’t acetone 1000 times worse?
Can you go to the drunk store and buy a bottle of PGA, AKA everclear, 190 proof Ethanol? That should work but I’m sure cost more.

No 190 Everclear in California since forever. 151 existed for a bit, but that's gone as well. Nanny state is here to protect us. But you can buy marijuana at the corner store, and Oakland has said it's fine to take psilocybin mushrooms...

Re: California bans the sale of Denatured Alcohol

Newhaul, love the state of Washington. But you’ve got to be kidding right? The rainy days and heavy winter winds would induce psychosis in me. Even my shower doesn’t get the amount of rain you endure. I hear.... tongue in cheek...that Washington ... in their love of wildlife... have started issuing rain gear to the ducks.

I stand by my statement of California having the best weather in the USA. Tornadoes, snow, heat, hurricanes, rain, and humidity don’t exist or are at reasonable amounts. Very mild climates along the coast. I lived in Bremerton as a kid and still remember what s bummer the winter rains and wind were like.

Re: California bans the sale of Denatured Alcohol

You'd think someone would be able to find a link to the text of this so-called law if it exists? I see a bunch of noise on bulletin boards like this one, a CARB working group on the subject in June, and a bunch of minimum wage folks at stores, but no actual regulation? Anyone?

You need to know WHERE in Washington to live to avoid all that rain (well most of it) Seattle gets about 36 inches a year but where I live, 17.

Hint: 40 miles away from the zoo called Seattle, and my avatar photo is of my home.
