Cape Horn Wind Pilot Help needed

Hi

have a cape horn wind pilot.
My broblem is as follows.

When putting the required number of twists in the bungee cord it bunches and will not lay flat in the notch. Also is it common that the rudder rides solely on the 2 pin notches?

Boat is down south so no pics.

Been fighting this problem for a while. Any owners with info greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I’ve got one and have not had any problems with the bungee. Is your bungee too big or perhaps the quality of the bungee lower than the original?

But, yes, the oar sits on the two pins and transfers the torque to the shaft to turn the rudder.

Same or better quality of the original bungee (actually used old bungee again)

How many loops and how many twists do you use?

DO you twist the blade to get the twists in/

Sounds stupid but cant get it right.

I’m thinking your twists are twisting the wrong thing.

I’ve got three loops with a number of twists (let’s call it braids for simplicity).
