Caught our first fish

We caught our first 2 fish this weekend. I don't understand why people say this is hard to do from a sailboat. We got 2 without even trying or even using any fishing gear. All I did was pull up my anchor and there were 2 on a line wrapped around my chain.

It was a good thing I noticed before they got to the anchor roller, or god forbid the windlass, as it would have been a mess.

Next time I'm hoping for a full lobster pot

Re: Caught our first fish

Wow, I don't think the end result of a fish going through a windlass would be all that appetizing. Glad you were paying attention! And what did you bait the anchor with?

Hey, sailorboy1,

Were they fish or bait?

Had a 15kg Spanish Mackerel glance of the Mizzen then land in the cockpit, that's real fishing.....

If you want to catch the big ones, jump overboard. Happened here recently. A sailer was bait and lunch for a white pointer.

Fishing while sailing is not hard. You just have to have the right gear.

This is my favourite great white story, a 2nm swim after falling in the water with one…

Re: Caught our first fish

So I am waiting with baited() breath - Have we finally answered the question?

"What's the best anchor for fishing?"
