Close to purchasing my first boat

Hi everyone, I am very close to purchasing my first real bluewater sailboat. I have always wanted a Hallberg Rassy and am looking at the 372. Now I am waivering on the Pacific Seacraft 37. I would like to hear some of your experienced thoughts, to help decide.
I have researched so many, Island Packet was very high up for me, Shannon, and many others.
I am new so I was thinking newer, nothing older than 2010. I am in California, will sail the coast to get more skilled and familiar with the boat and needed upgrades. Then I hope to sail off for very extended cruising, either solo or with 1 other person.
I just want the best built, and least likely to have problems. Thank you!

I see you got no love here. HR makes awesome boats. Maybe if this was in monohulls you would have better luck. Cheers

PS37 is also a venerable boat but you’re comparing good models to good models. This far in you should be comparing actual boats that are for sale. One HR might be excellent shape/outfit the next may have seen serious damage and shoddy repairs but also well equipped. See what’s for sale near you, as that and budget are your limiting factors.

I’ll second what rbk said, both models are “good bones” but it really depends on how each individual boat was cared for, fitted out, etc.

The HR is a considerably more "modern" design and will have considerably more interior space available, and likely better light air sailing performance... if those factors are important to you. The built in windscreen can be the basis for a great dodger, too.
