Re: Commandeered to Cuba

Still not understanding why the stoner would sail four days into the wind and current when he could have turned around and been in Florida/Keys in a day or two of down wind sailing.

I remember an episode of a TV show it was done in 3 parts:
- Her memory of what happened.
- His memory of what happened.
- What really happened...which was wildly different from both.

We've seen the first two parts but we'll probably never see the third part.

Two whack jobs out to tell a story to a movie producer. Using Cruisersforum for comments and ideas to clean up the script.

It's an interesting story and I'm looking forward to further adventures from these intrepid sea goers.

Problem is pot is a big no no in Cuba.

They will usually take your boat if they find any. Like it or not it is still illegal in many third world countries and the punishment is quite harsh.

Re: Commandeered to Cuba

This story is nuts and kind of fascinating. I'm of the opinion that one should never trap themselves into an enclosed space with another person with no means of escape, unless of they know them really really really well. Both sides of this coin are really very interesting. It must have sucked to be at the helm with no food or sleep, and it must have sucked to be in the v berth with food but no toilet.

I think that the partition door on a Cal29 pretty much puts the head in the same room as the vberth.

Yep and the owner had the hatch to escape through if he wanted.

It was probably when he ran out of 'nugs' that he hatched the plan to get ashore. I'm wondering how many people travel with their own portable chartplotters that show more detail than other plotters do....

Sounds similar to "Hoodwinked"
