Cruiser experience

My wife and I are looking for an opportunity to dip out toes in water of cruising. We have little or no sailing experience other than a little trailer sailer.

Should we consider one of the week long sail charter/training or something else? We don't want to be pampered, but we are not in the best physical shape.

Basically we want to spend the night in the neighborhood before we buy a house. [emoji2957]

Word of warning -- I don't think you should offer to help on one of the many requests for crew that are posted on here when someone's moving a vessel from one place to another. Although you get sea miles and experience in sailing, a delivery trip is very very different from cruising. About as far as you can get. With a delivery trip, the job is just to get there, with the same number of crew and boats as you started with. Motoring is perfectly normal, usually you only hole up on the way if there's some horrible weather coming. Almost all of the "good" bits of cruising are simply not there.
