cheers,
pretty sure it should be "scents" of humour, it's really starting to smell around here.

I would never suggest such a thing, especially from someone who knows how to spell "humour" correctly .

We fought a revolution to be free of people who spelled it "humour".

Ummm, (he says frantically rifling though the stacks and stacks of paper that has grown up around him since he started this project)....I checked and checked but no where does it say that revolutionaries are allowed to be cruisers... if fact most of the evidence....ummmm...

Gotta add another plane to that 11-dimensional space-time Venn diagram of yours .

Re: Defintion of a crusier

Humour? On the subject of who can spell the King's English correctly I guess our friend, Mac started off the thread with a title of "Defintion" and "crusier" so it did not set the bar very high. So anyone else who has a few typos in his (her) post needs to be forgiven.

Not sure about the rest of you but around Europe i do not see that we will be doing much "crusiering" this year. I am not even allowed to get my boat out of Bari/Italy according to the local regs, even if i could find a flight there bec Easyjet cancelled my booking. Hard to be "crusiering" if you cannot even get to yr boat.

What's the definition of cruising? #1, not being in a hurry. I am reminded of a passage in a childrens' book called Wind in the Willows which would appear to suit a lot of you guys, where Rat is taking Mole in his boat along the river to his “house”

“Believe me, my young friend”, says Water Rat to Mole as Rat sculled smartly down the river with Mole relaxing in the back seat, “there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing,” he went on dreamily, “messing – about – in – boats; messing about in boats, or with boats. In or out of them it doesn’t matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that’s the charm of it. Whether you get away or whether you don’t; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you’re always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you have done it there is always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you’d much better not.” Mole waggled his toes in sheer happiness, spread his chest with a sigh of full contentment, and leant back in the soft cushions. “What a Day I am having!”

Yep, Salty, you have hit on the all time best thoughts on the boating life and cruising in general. The author must, I say MUST have been a yottie to understand so well.

That was just a rumour you heard. Many are still flying the Colours of Great Britian. It is an honour to fly the Red Duster

God save the Queen!

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

My local pub trivia team is known as the Feather Dusters, and we proudly fly the Green Duster.

I am, indeed, the Official Keeper of the Feather Duster..!!

Re: Defintion of a crusier

Tks Jim. That is a real compliment coming from you. When i have friends onboard who try and pretend my boat could go a lot faster i remind them of the rat-and-mole conversation. It very nicely describes a cruising life.

I am just a minor contributor to CF compared to you but i follow quite a lot of the threads. Only occasionally adding a comment. A fantastic font of info on many topics which is truly impressive. The joke thread has some interesting humour (humor?)

Carry-on-cruising would be a good title for a film, right?
