FL east coast vs West coast

Great advice has been given for both coasts. Depending on what type of sailing you’re looking for, the St. Lucie River is a great place to get out for a few hours in almost any weather. Nice small club if you like friendly racing, cruising, social events as well. It’s about 1 1/2 hours to the St Lucie inlet or small nearby spoil islands as you cruise north to Ft. Pierce or south to Pecks Lake or Peanut Island or the Bahamas.

Jensen beach is tough to sail despite the wide water due to how shallow it is. Good luck.
