Re: Got a plastic classic?

Don't know if we fully qualify but after 30 years aboard we have a new to us 1980 Morgan 462 ketch. Actually a Scheel design. Been through a major rebuild several years back. We just sailed it from East Coast FL to the central Gulf Coast.

Putting finishing touches on her to get ready for the South Pacific next year we hope.

Re: Got a plastic classic?

I'm so excited to find this thread! I am a first time boat owner of a 1987 Pearson 33, heading into my third season with LOTS of learning ahead. I've gotten through the basic engine stuff, the rigging, water and head systems, and refreshed lots of teak. She was well-loved by her former owners but there are things that need attention. Thankful for the helpful advice I'm getting here!

Welcome to the club! Yes you qualify, though to me a boat from the 80s still seems like a new boat

New owner of a 1980 Lancer 36, in need of some TLC, which is badly overdue. Looking forward to sailing instead of just fixing......

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Our first sailboat was a 1973 29' Columbia. It was old and crusty but everything worked. The Atomic (gas) engine was bomb proof. It never failed us. We have so many memories of sailing the north end of the Chesapeake Bay. Its a small boat and more like camping than cursing so after 10 years we sold her and moved up to a Morgan 41.6 Out Island ketch which give us lots of comfortable room and is shallow draft which is great for the Bahamas.
