Re: Got a plastic classic?

Hi all
There are lots of classics on the thread.Great looking boats.
I have an Alberg 34 sloop . The last boat built in Canada number 7 of 7 She was built in 1987 . Lots of brass I'm in the progress of updating to radar and auto helm and reefing lines back to the cockpit.I redid the bottom last year and rebuilt the rudder.
Plan to sail her out the St Lawrence and down south this June.

Ever watch people at the docks they always migrate to the classics must be the sleek lines they have.

So where is the social group would love to join.

Regards Eric

Beautiful! One of the originals! I hope you'll post it over at the social group. Have any shots of the refit?

Hi Eric, look up at the tab called "Community" and you will see "social groups." You should see "Plastic Classics" there at the top. Alberg 34! What a rare and great boat!

Good question!

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Yesterday I had some intimate moments with the Yachtworld, watching early Rhodes plasticks.

Hmmmmmm, pretty, very pretty.

Re: Got a plastic classic?

On those early days, boats were made in GRP after drawings intended for wooden boats, thus retaining inherent Elegance, Spirit, Solidity.

Swan 65' is a shining example...

The plastic bubble was ahead of blasting, with "soapy" forms, currently rather horrific to me...

Could be nice - but I won't share personal data for access to the store. Loved the 'com-on' photo, long overhangs etc. Sort of a Mini-Me.

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Check out these videos of a restoration of a Cal 40.

I wish that I had seen this before I started!

Yeah I am not a fan of that either but there are some interior shots on another site; someone did a beautiful job on the woodwork.
