ha ha ha ha ha imagine my surprise

i was minding my own business as usual yesterday when a BEAUTIFUL cheoy lee offshore 40 comes into the next slip over--yes i assisted in line handling and boat positioning-- we got to talking.
seems the man is a cf member. not just a cf member, but one who followed my track south.
he told me my track was followed closely. i told him about the chubasco just north of cabo san lucas--he said my speed was 12.8kts.
ok.
impressive speed for a formosa under any conditions.
i only saw 8.4.
now, i know there is a southerly drift-- but is it really 4 kts off baja sur?? was a lot of fun!!!
so i was flying. anyway he told me his cf name which i immediately proceeded to forget, as i am that way with names...

anyway--we could actually have a nice sized impromptu cf gathering here-- iff san diego chip and vino the dog and this guy and the other few are here all at same time... ha ha ha ha
btw--i am the one ye donot hear on radio or morning net, as my masthead connections got patricia'd.
\who else is coming to mazatlan this winter?? it is a good jump off point for those headed south. some go north to soc from here. city is a good hub, and convenient.

Re: ha ha ha ha ha imagine my surprise

I'd say 8.4 is impressive, I saw 8+ kts once, off of Sarasota headed south, I know there was current, cause I don't have an 8 kt boat

What's this about a slip?

merely for repairs in a high season cheapest in mexico barely got wifi marina...in mazatlan where my best overall repair friends live. and work........
meanwhile, as my depressed state post dead brother improves, i find the dire need for more rowing more biking and more kayaking so i have a body in which to age .

Don't be too surprised to see a goat show up in Mazatlan, depending on how long you're there. In San Diego right now for bottom paint etc. Bound for Ensenada after Christmas, couple days on Isla Cedros. Wish to avoid Cabo, so it's either north up soc or over to Mazatlan. Maybe you could put on some Spanish lessons for us gringos.

Re: ha ha ha ha ha imagine my surprise

ha ha ha i am here for uncool repairs ha ha ha ha ha actually some are cool.... depends on how well they are effected.... anticipating much coolness.
now for patience ha ha ha ha ha which i was not born with...
so i will see folks as they trickle into this place--and send em off as well, until my boat is fixed and ready--should not take more than 3 yrs, during which i donot enjoy the stagnation

Hey wags - how is it out there? Here in SC we have had big gusts and winds for 3 days. No one is moving.

Thanks Z! I've heard a lot of talk about the surge in El Cid. Is it that big of deal?

Re: ha ha ha ha ha imagine my surprise

Some boats that stay long term in El Cid look like they have made a spider web of dock lines to keep them from moving around. It's not that bad, but docking manuvers when tides are running can be a challenge.

Re: ha ha ha ha ha imagine my surprise

Formosa 41 = 32 ft waterline=7.98 hull speed. Nothing surprising about it.
