That post gave me a laugh, thanks! Seriously, if the shift lever is not in neutral, or a fuse is blown in the starter circuit as mentioned in another post, the OP would not have heard any engine alarms or lights, most likely. There would have been no current flowing in the primary (ahead of any solenoid) circuits where these alarms are located.

My bet is he just had a low battery from partying too late in the previous evening. Maybe was running an icemaker or blender too much!
