alphanumerIP, and you could use an "alpha" symbol, and a "mu" for the "u"

I'm always fascinated by folks who can't be creative enough on their own.

DIY comes to mind.

Good luck.

Re: Help us Name our Boat

Crowd sourcing some creativity is common in the IT world. We aren't exactly known for our creativity except in the realms of logic.

Sorry to have offended your delicate sensibilities around the inherent DIY nature of the naming process...

Now back to our regularly scheduled program. For the rest of y'all, thanks for the suggestions there's been some great ones here. I think we'll probably stick with our original choice but will continue to monitor this thread until it's a done deal. So please keep em coming, been fun to read them all.

Thanks,
EB

Re: Help us Name our Boat

Congratulations on the boat! It sounds like you got, deservingly, a great new toy/home. Anyway, on to names.

In Military parlance, & a few other circles, "Exfiltration" or Exfil for short, means making one's escape (back to friendly territory & good living) after a dangerous or very arduous mission. That, or pulling off a BIG prank, which raises enough ire, to have a lot of unhappy folks looking for you, HARD. And or while simultaneously jealous of your exploits/counting coup (begrudgingly).

Either way, the getting out AFTER an event/mission, is usually the toughest & most dangerous part. As when you were going in, no one knew that you were there, but now, your opponents are all aware of your presence, as well as your general plan to "head for the hills", as it were.

But once you & your mates are safely out of harms way/back home... You party and savor life with a ferocity as if you just escaped Death Itself... as you literally/figuratively just did.

So, that explained, how about "IP Exfil"? Or if one of you happens to be named Philip, then "IP ExPhil".

Re: Help us Name our Boat

The problem with IP is that it means too many different things. 3 comes to mind immediately:
Internet protocol
Information protection
Intellectual property
