I also wanted to say, but omitted to, that I follow your posts fixing up the various boats. Some excellent workmanship there. I appreciate craftsmanship.

Re: How Many Have Sailed Offshore

I think he was talking to me cause I called him on the thread. That's OK, I'm a big boy.
If he really wants to know what makes a sailor he needs to go sailing with one. No amount of cyber knowledge will help you there mate.
And if you want to know what kind of sailor I am come down to my boat. Have a meal with me. Look over my logs. Go sailing with me. Then you can judge. That's all I was trying to say.

Re: How Many Have Sailed Offshore

Sailed Sydney to Lord Howe Island approx 400NM offshore and also did singlehanded Sydney to Launceston (Tasmania) and return. Both were great trips and like an earlier poster said - you are on your own out there.
On the trip to LHI pqssed only one other vessel and that was 26NM off Sydney. Not another vessel was seen till we returned back to the coast off Sydney.

There sure are some demented souls that appear every once in awhile on here.

Demented. But entertaining.

Re: How Many Have Sailed Offshore

Well people...... you have made my evening somewhat special. Doing these past few night, I remembered why I gave up hospital work (bugger this being helpful to a friend lark, it sucks!) ........ and in reading the posts tonight I appreciate the life on the outside.......

I may never be a 'sailor', well there is no maybe about it, but I do love my excursions into the water and messing around on boats. Luckily, my lack of skills are made up for by having an extra anal attention to detail gland which means every one close to my person on a boat is going to live because each support system has been checked at least 4 times...

This demented person bids you all a good night and a wave goodbye to my 3 nights of hell being a kind soul.

out of here. later dudes and dudettes.

Re: How Many Have Sailed Offshore

I always sort of found it boring offshore. Once out of sight (as well as radio contact) of everyone else, there is not a lot to do except move water past the hull. The only part I really like was the clear nights...stars to be seen like no other place on earth.

For the record, my armchair has done the miles. :-)
