You are of course entitled to your view, based in ignorance though it might be.

No-one questions that there have been issues with aggressive dogs, including pitbulls, or that pitbulls have a higher than average rate of human aggression.

Did you know that they also have the highest rate of passing the AKC's temperament test? Did you also know that they are America's most popular family pet? And also that the rate of deaths is well under 1 per million pitbulls per year? Note that makes a pitbull about 20 times less likely to kill you than the average human, comparing dog deaths to the murder rate.

The real question is what to do about dog aggression. The problem is irresponsible breeding, for people who want aggressive dogs, for fighting or for personal protection.

The solution is to promote responsible breeding and use of standard temperament testing, to improve the breed.

I hope you won't be advocating the wiping out of the highly-dangerous human species. After all, any of of them is 20 times more dangerous than the average pitbull.

Most pitbulls just want to be loved. Sorry you don't have the heart for that.

Re: I found her on my rounds.

She is sweet and if she is still alive at her age then hopefully this means she is not aggressive nor unpredictable.

Great to see people still care.

Wishing you many good moments with your new friend.

Thanks for sharing,

TooCoy I owe you an apology for inciting another to put up or shut up. I ruined your post about a sweet dog. I apologize whole heartedly.

Re: I found her on my rounds.

If she lives on that Oceanis *and* itinerants think she is a savage pit bull that will rip their heart out at an instant and drink their blood for breakfast I would count that as a plus.

Funny since you're the first one mentioning a dog in the pic.

Pit bulls? Yes they attack more than any other breed. No that doesn't mean they are all attack prone. Some are very sweet.

It's not the dog, it's how they are raised. Plenty more humans are scarier than that dog.
