Re: Is a hans 33 big enough

10 -12 meters is the sweet spot for numerous reasons. I hope you like working on boats because both will take much of your time. If you do not want to spend much time doing maintenance / repairs find a strong easily maintained boat and devote more time to the reason you want to be on a boat.

Re: Is a hans 33 big enough

What do you mean by "big enough". The Hans 33T is big enough to go any where in the world safely and in comfort.

If you mean will she be livable, let me say this. Last year I sold my Hans Christian 48T, Bravura. She was custom built for me as an aft cockpit version of the 48T series in 1986. I lived aboard her, sailed her over 80,000 miles and made my living with her for 15 years as a high end day charter business in the BVI.

Now I have a Hans Christian 33T, AVEC. And I will tell you that I am just as comfortable on her as on Bravura. Another great blessing of the 33Ts is they do not demand the maintenance of a larger boat, nor are they as expensive. In my opinion never was there a better cruising boat designed under 45 feet than the HC 33T. Big boats require big wallets.

So the real question is: Is your wallet big enough?

Bravura48 that about sums it up “Is your wallet big enough”
I have noticed lately that there seems to be a lot of expensive boats on moorings. Back when I was an apprentice in NZ if you had an expensive boat then you could afford to keep her in the marina. Now I am seeing a lot of $200,000+ boats on moorings here in Australia. Nothing wrong with that, I am just surprised that people who can spend that type of money cannot afford a marina berth?
Cheers
