Re: Is this a good price for a Laser?

Good morning, Carolina Blue.

I like your plan. I grew up in Chapel Hill, where my dad was a professor, sailed the lakes, and sailed the Oriental area the common way - Camp Seagull. When you get to the coast, the big difference and pleasant surprise after lake sailing is the continuous wind - I found lake sailing terribly frustrating and dependent on a front coming through. I was lucky in spending summers in Clearwater, FL. Do shift to the coast as soon as you can, and probably transition to a larger boat then. Pamlico Sound sailing will get you ready for cruising, with the Atlantic wind but not the wave, and enough space to start navigating at least by pilotage.

It looks like you are around Charlotte. Consider joining Lake Norman Sailing Community.

They have boats you can take out, get lessons, and race. Great organization.

Hey Drink,

I met with them on Thursday. I plan to go back and crew on a Regatta next Thursday.
