Re: Las Salchichias Rosas as celebrities

Ah.

So 'alternative' has now acquired a new meaning. I think this must have happened over last couple of years, when a new breed of 'pls support my alternative lifestyle' kind of adventurers cropped up. Thanks be sent to youtube, facebook and insta!

Another thing. Why will we say 'on their wit' when we mean 'on their marketing skills'?

And what is so alternative about having strong monetizing drive and well developed marketing skills?

Alternative, my dear ignorant friends, were some rock musicians in the 70'ies. Everything else is post-modern and a job well done.

Why not call a spade a spade and let people live, sail and earn they living as they please.

I am not in the 'looking for a donor' club. Somebody else is. So what.

Live and let live. They are not keeping a gun to my head requesting money, are they?

I do not need to like all people and share their attitudes. But how does it stop me from letting them be?

And those of us who think bashing achieves any end are grossly wrong. With every post here they are richer. Publicity, right or wrong, works towards the number of clicks they get. And clicks are how they make money.

Ha. Ha Ha. Bash me more!

Leave these folks alone. You do not like to watch them, then just stop watching them.

Alternative cheers,
b.

Youtube addictive? And how many hours an average Westerner spends watching TV daily? Or Twitting, Facebooking or otherwise mindlessly using their smarphone?

Why is youtube suddenly worse than any other opium for the masses?

Then again imagine all those old cruisers tinkering with their old rotten teak decks (or always failing Rocnas ...) - what is so noble in the cruising lifestyle that would give us any right to bash youtube addicts?

So. I am with you. But then again I am not.

I will never understand , even a slight bit, how so many people can actually live thru fantasy. Their entire be-ings are totally wrapped up in it Selling fantasy is almost the largest business in the world, surely the most profitable one and the easiest. Guess im a weirdo outsider.

Yep.

Just think of Chaplin, Coco Chanel or Kinder Surprise!

I will disappoint you maybe but I am bang sure you are not a weirdo outsider.

Re: La Vagabonde as celebrities

The La Vagabondes are a fun charismatic couple so why not watch their videos? However I wouldn't sponsor them but I have sponsored some struggling YouTubers who need it more. It must be my Australian egalitarianism which may not resonate with a lot of Americans. They probably think I'm a dreadful socialist [emoji6]

Yes Sir, some will.

One cannot make another person, especially ill willed one, in a democratic (buhahahaha!) country not say what they please. One can one report a racist post to the admins.

I know exactly what you mean. But I am not a native speaker of English and this meaning of the phrase I discovered only recently reading about President Trump's many (in-)famous quotes. I was also reminded by the administrators to never do this again. So I do not.

So, to a huge potential disappointment of somebody out there, I am not a racist. Unless you have ever seen a racist hippie!

BTW now that you said this aloud, I think I know what might be hiding under that 'alternative lifestyle' . If so, then here it is not alternative either. In Canary Islands (where I am now) you can posses or use small amounts of marijuana without making any claims to your smoking habits being 'alternative'...

And I save heaps of freedom tokens by simply walking in any public park in the evening. Pay nothing, just breathe deep!!! Now this truly is an ALTERNATIVE SMOKING LIFESTYLE. Alternative to anchoring downwind from a French boat in the Caribbean!

;-)))))))))))))))

PS. Seriously: Neither a racist nor a smoker. A near vegetarian and a whale huger.

From my perspective nothing is being done other than fear mongering and even more taxation on an already overtaxed general population..
Phoney programs like Carbon Credits which if anything increases world pollution while waving the XR Flag.. Total BS.
Stop destroying the rain forests for gold, beef and palm oil.. reforest the Himalayas and other ranges to stop erosion and begin to recreate the natural fertilisation of the plains.. there's lots of other sensible things in natural science that could be done.. Oh.!!!
And Stop Producing Plastic.
But the above does not suit the $$$ Agenda..

No, I'm not saying that at all. Like most recent posters you don't understand what is actually being proposed.

These posts only prove that, like debating whether vaccines cause autism with Karen on facebook, these conversations are useless. For climate science deniers it's not about the science, at all. The psychology is fascinating and what's really happening here are things like regaining some sort of control or authority over a world that has changed so much from the one they equipped themselves to navigate. There's obviously more to it and I'd encourage anyone who was actually genuine about learning more to do some reading on the subject.

Hi Boatie,
....haven't seen you for a while

Too true, I went down that road for the first 3 years, majoring in psychology,

until one day at a lecture just after a disgusting slide show on sexual deviation (the heavy stuff),
...the prof mentioned that most people choose professions that help themselves.....
Decided right then.....I'm outa here!

Not is so many words, but you silence speaks heaps when you won't respond to the question asked earlier about exactly this point:

Where's the justification for her UN speech:

"According to the IPCC report, we are about 11 years away from being in the position where we set off an irreversible chain reaction beyond human control. To avoid that, unprecedented changes in all aspects of society need to have taken place within this coming decade."

It only speaks volumes to you. You're a climate science denier; would anything I post change your mind? No. If you were genuinely interested in the science and approached it with a learning attitude you'd already have read the multitudes of work, understood it and wouldn't be posting stuff like this. As I've already explained, multiple times, for climate science deniers it is not actually about the science. Once you understand that a lot of other things make more sense.

I don't expect you to accept that, however. Which is why it's pointless to engage with climate science deniers on any meaningful level. They're the equivalent of Karen the anti-vaxxer, to be dismissed.

OK you can do whatever you want to and I will approve it. Plus you don't need to describe your inner feelings and you will be accepted worldwide no problema.

BTW- I knew many real hippies in the 60s and many were actual racists. most of the guys were in it to get laid and the girls were in it to meet cool guys. I was probably a hippie sympathizer (actually shared a house with a bunch during the MKL race riots in Wash DC in 1968)-until I realized quite a few of them were criminals in disguise. Personally I Identified with the "beat generation" and blue jazz. "Bird Lives".
