Lake Pontchartrain

We are looking at a new to us boat (B43) on lake Pontchartrain. Having a little trouble finding a good marina.
Can you get a sailboat north of the Lake Pontchartrain causeway? Is there a draw bridge?
What are the best marinas on the Lake Pontchartrain?

As always thank you for your help

Re: Lake Pontchartrain

Getting north might be a little difficult as the causeway runs north/south.

If you want to get west of the causeway, there is a drawbridge (16miles north of the south end).

Not sure about marinas.

As far as I know the better marinas (protected) are in Slidell

Re: Lake Pontchartrain

There are numerous marinas on Lake Pontchartrain, and yes, you can go under the Causeway at the midpoint to get to the West side. There are a couple of nice marinas in Mandeville, at the foot of the Causeway on the North side. They are well protected in the bayous that feed into the Lake. One is Prieto Marina, another is Mandeville Yacht Club. There are others. There is also a nice marina in Madisonville, on the West side of the Causeway, up the Tchefuncte River, but I don't recall the name of it.
There are nice marinas on the South Shore in New Orleans, including Southern Yacht Club. Someone already mentioned Slidell, and I agree that's a great choice, with easy access to the Mississippi Sound and the Gulf Coast through The Rigolets.
Lake Pontchartrain has a very active sailing community. You'll enjoy it!
