Re: Leaking Steel Diesel Tank

A story of woe !
We had one of our tanks develop a hole . I presume this was after 35 years of water in the bottom. Anyway the problem was the tanks we have were in parallel to keep the weight even. These tanks hold 500L each. We were not on the boat when the leak developed. We lost the contents of both tanks pumped out by the bilge pump over a period of days. I was not a happy camper so the next haul out we chopped the tank out and made an epoxy one to replace it. We no longer keep the tanks parallel and we drain the bottom once a month to remove the small amount of water/condensation. It was an expensive lesson ....... But very happy with the new tank.. Even though we carry slightly less.
