Re: Lizard Island Australia any one sailed there?

Yeah - must say I am confused. The OP is going from Cairns to Lizard, Thus hinchinbrook, the palm group etc are really out of the equation. I would be thinking, Daintree, Bloomfield ( not sure how much you draw, bloomfield can be a bit shallow) and Endeavour rivers as possible hidey holes.

Thanks Factor, yep just throwing around a few possibilities, I was just researching the ocean wind forecasts on BOM which look more favourable for staying up and close in to this area at least until Saturday/Sunday, we may just end up starting our holiday by pottering around some of the local islands here, after being through severe cyclones Larry and Yasi we won't be "risk takers" in this situation

Whoops . Then I can only agree that Hinchinbrook is possibly the best south of cairns

Well it seems that BOM forecasts the low to cross much higher on the Cape, so we will continue to watch and hope that things turn more favourable for travelling North, looks like we won't leave for another day or two any way.

H Jaz and Gav.

I will send some pics once I recover from the Christmas rush - but will email you the specs and photos of Clearwater before she was painted up in 2008. Perhaps this will give you some ideas too.

We plan to get back to Charon (currently in Bundy) in April and head north as far as we can. Hopefully to the Kimberleys ultimately. And of course we plan to spend some time in Cairns.

More later - will bet the photos ready if you send me your email address.

Regards

Richard from Charon
