Re: Looking for a lost 125' steel hull schooner!!!

I have no idea who bought it, that was when my parents divorced and we moved up north.

That is a definite possibility, however her refit must have been massive to change her that much and she had twin masts when I knew her. I'm looking into that pic closely, everything else about the pic seems right.
thanks so much

Re: Looking for a lost 125' steel hull schooner!!!

Brian - I'm Arnie's daughter, Diane's oldest daughter, Nicki. Mom has pictures that she said she'd copy for you, if I was able to get in touch with you. If you can find me on Facebook Nicki Watson Piel or send me an e-mail at krpiel@aol.com, I can get you and mom in touch. By the way, I've had 2 of Grampa's boats, a 10 footer and another from the time period after Grampa sold his half of GW Invader Boats to George Wooldridge. My boat is a 1989 Bravo, but the metal plate says GW Invader Sharpsville, In on it. I'm not sure if you remember, but I grew up in Sharpsville, right a round the corner from the boat factory. I could actually see it across the field. The factory is gone now. I think someone built a house in that spot. Anyway, I would love to get in touch with you!

Gray Enterprises was acquired by Pompanette in 1982. Next came Bomar, PYHI, Hood Yacht Systems, International Fighting Chairs, Murray Sportfishing, American Marine, and more.

Re: Looking for a lost 125' steel hull schooner!!!

IDK if this still has folks looking at it but, I am the grandson of the builder. I was at the yard when she was built. I "worked" ther it would have been 1984 i belive. As I recall she was 100' on deck. There were many news articles written about the construction and launch. I am in possession of a half hull made from her lines as well as a copy "very faded" of her lines. Feel free to contact me if you like.
