(I know this is a more serious and specific issue but still...)

What’s that? A Canadian ship is having condensate drainage issues in the tropics! Surprise surprise!

Re: Mouldy mattress on warship!

Worst part is the government will hire a consultant to assess the situation and he/she will recommend an oversight committee to implement his/her proposed solutions then it will be assigned a management team, engineering consultant and eventually go out to tender as an engineered design....so this should be wrapped up in 2-3 years and cost the taxpayers around 3-4 million while our troops sleep on inadequate mattresses and get sh*t compensation when they are discharged, when they could fix the problem in a month for less than 50 grand and spend the additional 2.5-3.5 million on vet benefits.

Be fair, the consultant will do what is in the brief. The Ministry will hire a project manager to oversee the report and then between the PM and the faceless Ministry gnomes they will decide it could be done cheaper if a committee review things.......

No, no, no It MUST be more complicated and expensive, far too simple...the initial consultant will be a functional planner to tell the Ministry if its even possible to fix the problem (no one would be willing to make that decision so they'd farm it out). Once the report is completed the Ministry will then create an oversight committee (comprised mostly of their own staff and given additional wages) the committee will asses the feasibility study and weigh the costs versus the liability versus the political risk (i.e. sink the ships and build new; or fix the problem) then create a mandate and allocate funds based on their year long findings Only then will it will be given to Project Manager for design tender (another year) and construction procurement (another year).

OMG...The PM? Really? Do you think that twit has any clue about life on a boat? Haha..ad infinitum. This is yet another media fuelled soapbox drama. Give us ALL a break with the self righteous banter.

From previous posts: PM=Project Manager. No mention or affiliation with any political party. This is the general under pinning of any government project Canadian, USA etc. Doesn’t matter which party they all spend our tax dollars the same. No bodies forcing you to read this. Oh and in case you missed the irony of this, most every cruiser knows the simple solution to the moldy mattress problem.

Re: Mouldy mattress on warship!

Simple solution, get rid of the mattresses let the naval crew sleep on the deck or the cabin sole, like the infantry does in battle situations. Or install hammocks.

Re: Mouldy mattress on warship!

I was thinking of changing my mattress in the vberth for one of those 3” foam mattress tops advertised widely. Does anyone have any experience of these?
