Re: Moving Sailboat From West Coast

I HAVE NEVER MOVED A SAILBOAT BUT HAVEMOVED LOADS IN EXCESS OF 140,000LBS. YOU MIGHT WANT TOGET MEASURMENT OF YOUR BOAT FROM BTTOM OF KEEL TO TOP OF HOUSE. IF YOU ARE UNDER14 FEET IT CAN BE TRUCKED WITH A LOW-BOY TRAILER. THEN GET YOUR BEAM DEMENSIONS. NOW GOOGLE AROULD FOR A HEAVY HAULER WANTING A RETURN LOAD. IF BOAT CAN BE HAULED ON A LOWBOY YOU WONT NEED A BOAT HAULER, WHICH IS SPECIALIZED AND EXPENSIVE TO GET TO YOUR LOCATION. ONCEYOU FINE A HAULER, IF YOU CAN, THEN IT IS JUST A MATTER OF PULLING YOUR MAST AND ARRANGING FOR LOADING CRANE AT BOTH ENDS TRUCKING CO WILL ARRANGE FOR PERMITS ROUTING ETC. IT STILL MAY BE COST PROHIBRIGGING COMPANYS ALL OVER US. CHECK ITIVE BUT ANOTHER ROUTE TO LOOK INTO. also, A LOT OF THESE HEAVY HAULERS HAVE CONTACTS WITH LIFTING/ RIGGING COMPANIES ALL OVER AND CAN GUIDE YOU IN THAT AREA. OF COURSE A BOAT HAULER IS THE SIMPLEST WAY TO GO AND I WOULD BET YOUR MARINA CAN ADVISE YOU THERE. GOOD LUCK

Re: Moving Sailboat From West Coast

I never read letters done in all capitals. Too much anger makes my stomach ack. And my mother was a screamer. It is time someone started an organisation that you joined and then traded the use of your boat for the use of someone else's boat. Or maybe the use of your boat for someone else's condominium. It could all be done with proper bonding, and some trade of residence is already happening. I would trade my shalet in the mountains of Oregon for a sailboat use, say in Turkey. But you have to like my cat on facebook. Mac. He does not like sailing.

Hard Rock Candy: Avoisine probably didn't understand that on the internet all caps is interpreted as screaming. I agree that it is very jarring to read.

Re: Moving Sailboat From West Coast

One of my friends recently moved her sloop from the East Coast here to Dana. Come past on a Saturday morning, and ask for me on the Brig Pilgrim and I'll try to get the two of you in touch.

At the Ocean Institute, at the Western end of the harbor. But watch out. I will probably try to convince you to to sail it yourself, and take me along!

Just a few weeks ago there was a post from someone asking about east to west transport. If you can dig that up possibly it would work for the benefit of both. Any kind of trucker doesn't want to dead head and boat transport would seem to require more of that being a specialty not general freight.

Coordinating both moves might save a bunch?
