In the Caribbean.. leave my sail boat on a mooring ball in Admiralty Bay... Tour the island of Bequia by taxi for the day... Return to my boat to find another sailing vessel anchored snug up next to me.. like uncomfortably close. In a bay that is large enough to accommodate Blackbeard's fleet of ships.. so, if you have spent any time sailing the Caribbean, then you probably know which nations flag that this vessel was flying.. My question is, without naming names, why do they do this

Re: Newbie

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

False sense of safety in a group. Also thy think you have figured out the good place to anchor so the anchor near you and don’t look at the charts for them selves.

There are some cruisers that if the arrive first will anchor away from where they want to anchor. After a group anchors around the initial location, they move to where they want to be and later strivers tend to anchor near the group.
