Passage Caribe to San Blas

Hallo, starting to plan for the next step of my around the world cruise.
When is the best period to cross the Mexico Gulf from Caribe to San Blas? And what's the main Marina in San Blas Islands? Are there major immigration procedures or is same as other countries?

There are no marinas in the San Blas islands.
