Pilsburry boat in Rio Dulce

For those interested in Guatemala/Rio and neat monohulls Shane and Amy (GenXPats on YT) might be worth looking into. Shane and Amy are great folks, newer 1/2 time live-aboard cruisers, but are the generous and very constructive people in the cruising community types. Their boat "Maverick" is really really neat; I've been aboard many times; the view from the solon area is amazing although I can't remember what type of vessel Shane said it is. I understand it used to be the private yacht of the Pillusbury family before it was brought down to Guatemala by "Captain John" whom everyone familiar with the Rio will know.

The channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GenXPats

Here is a shot of Maverick if anyone can identify the type:

No, apologies, not trying to solution anything, (I'll ask Shane and submit the type if anyone is interested, but some here might know what it is) just thought it is a beautiful and somewhat different vessel than I am used to seeing in the marinas/anchorages, and also has some, apparently, interesting history and am sharing on that basis. Might be interesting to some. certainly is not for others. I'm trying to get some additional photos that give a better sense of Maverick thank the screen grab I was able to get from the video.

Re: Pilsburry boat in Rio Dulce

Ok, found vessel is a 1973 Cal 2-46. It is not for sale, again, I just thought folks might appreciate the woodwork and layout. Not a bluewater passage optimized vessel, but others like it (Maverick is not for sale) might be a consideration or of just general interest. The visibility from inside is particularly amazing.

Re: Pilsburry boat in Rio Dulce

Happy to share; Maverick is one of the most handsome boats on the water and definitely not run of the mil.

No, just a neighbor boat in the marina I was in that I thought was unusual and interesting.
