Public Comment on New Regs at Biscayne National Park

Biscayne National Park is considering changing its General Management Plan. They have released a 300 page document with proposals and 5 alternative plans. If you have time please read it even though it contains lots of useless info. If you do not want to read it there is an Alternative 1 plan which leaves the park as it is. There is a public comment period through October 31. I will include the link to the comment form at the end of this. I read through most of the alternatives and they include areas that will be closed to fishing and permit area entry only areas near Black Point. Since many boats cruise this area to and from the Keys and points south this seems unreasonable. In my opinion the Alternative 1 plan is the way to go. Yes the park is broken but cannot be fixed by these proposals and when you consider the fact that Cuba and China are putting an oil rig in the Florida Straits between Cuba and Key West in December this year, the parks future is not in our hands anyway so enjoy it how it is.
