Replace / repair dripless drive shaft in water

Has anyone had success replacing a dripless drive shaft in the water?

I have a small tear in mine that seemed to have been caused by one of the hose clamps. When I removed the hose clamp the leaking stopped but a small tear remains.

Is there a product that can seal this tear that might hold me over for a few months? Has anyone replaced a dripless drive shaft while in the water?

Thanks!

Yes. We went from a lip seal to a Last Drop while in the water. Surprisingly not a lot of water came in. We have done something similar using toilet bowl wax which we put in place as we scuba dive and have good lights for underwater.
We did the swap without anything underwater to slow the flow. Had all the tools and parts laid out and prepared for a Noah flood but we’re very surprised nothing much went wrong. Then again, my crew is hardly “sane and conservative “ .

Happy trails to you.
