Resurrecting 2018 Threads on July 5 2024

What's with all the 2018 threads suddenly being resurrected today, 5 July 2024, and supposedly by actual users rather than one-post wonders?

Coincidence or conspiracy?
Someone training an AI bot to chat?
Might give better advice than I do.

These threads are being revived by actual users. All from May of 2018.

No, it's not a coincidence. I doubt it's AI; that seems to be today's knee-jerk answer to all forum and internet shenanigans.

Anyone who has had contact with these members who are posting/reviving these threads should contact them to find out if their accounts are secure.

WARNING POSSIBLE BS THEORY AHEAD
Content creators have taken a hit this past year. Google has given authority to Reddit and forums like CF.
AI might be playing an indirect role. Content creators used to write 5k word articles about subjects. Some did it from a laptop without any experience in the subject, just using google, forums, and Reddit for answers.
Today, AI will write whatever you want. There are tools available to refine any article you wish to write - some big players pay $$$ to write generate hundreds and sometimes thousands of articles per day. Because of this Google doesn't trust just any content creator and has given Forums like CF and sites like Reddit the first page of search results.

If these accounts have been compromised:
1. Maybe these posts are an attempt to diminish CF authority (have Google hit CF with a penalty) with outdated front page revised posts that have thin content/replies and spammy content.
2. Maybe content creators are attempting to write articles on the subjects that are being revived and feel that they can get some SEO juice from CF.

EDIT: Maybe a possible clue could come from replying directly to the user that revived the thread to see if any of them respond.

The really frustrating ones are the 5 year old classifieds that get revised.

On the Recent Threads page, 13 out of the 26 threads have a start date of 2018. SEO and AI are way above my pay grade.

It will be interesting to read the explanation.

Does make me wonder though, if there has been some sort of breach, usually this happens with accounts that have no posts.
