Revamped Zanshin's boat website

Two weeks ago I realized how dated the layout of my website has become and how it really only presented itself to those with big monitors. So I bit the bullet and worked to get a new responsive layout which would size itself for both monitors and mobile devices and which didn't mean that I'd have to change every page (I've got 1300 pages in total, most of them blog pages). I have over 9000 pictures in total and all of them were in a single directory, making lookups slow and the new site has split the files over several directories plus all full-size pictures now have links to the page(s) which reference them. I've published the initial rollout of new layout and will most likely tweak it a bit in the coming weeks.

The mobile version is extremely fast.
Overall look is great!

Typo on the Homepage "tradewinds that come from the west" obviously should be tradewinds that blow towards the west ...

Very very good.

Did you hand code it or use an editor?

Re: Revamped Zanshin's boat website

Mark - I worked by hand with css to do the formatting and menuing, and since all the pages have include files in php I didn't have to change the existing pages much to make them use the new method. Which is why css has become so popular, I guess; but it is hard to understand at first.

The coolest part is that I set up an Apache Webserver with all the beeps, bells and whistles that my hosted server has on a $30 Raspberry PI computer and tested everything off that server before uploading to the permanent site. Those Raspberries are incredible machines, all in a package the size of a pack of cigarettes.

I'll correct typos ASAP. I'm off to the boat tomorrow, with a 2 hour layover at SXM. See you in a couple of weeks!

Really nice and I especially like the retractable menu system. Great job, the effort really shows.
