SL 555 windlass

Thanks to GordMay we found the manual for our windlass on the Lewmar page, but no step by step uninstal/reinstal directions.
Nigel Calder's directions suggest you pull the gearshaft out and the gears fall out the bottom into you lap. Sounds too problematic for my mechanical skills unless there is some way of identifying the gears for correct reassembly.

Can anybody help?
