Slip space and pricing near Chattanooga TN?

As I look more seriously at potential boats, I'm trying to decide the best place to store it, but I'm not sure where I could store it or how much it would cost me. If anyone's got some advice, I'd appreciate it.

Lol. Well, it might help if we knew whether you are going to buy a 15' skiff or a 50' ketch.
Simplest thing for you to do is contact marinas, boatyards , etc. in your area and ask them.

I'm aiming for something between 25 and 30 feet.

Re: Slip space and pricing near Chattanooga TN?

Hey there! We are right up the road from you in Knoxville tn. I would call around and see what the marinas in your area are wanting for a slip. We keep our boat at concord yacht club where we pay a yearly fee to be members and must do volunteer hours, but we keep ours on a mooring ball for $15/month. The slips are $50/month. It's a great deal and we are surrounded by a great sailing community. Other marinas in the area charge $200-$400/month depending on location, amenities, etc. you may be able to find a boat with trailer, and then you could just keep it in your back yard, or dry storage. Call around and start getting some ideas!

Wherever you decide keep in mind the time it takes from the location to get to where you can sail. saving some on storage but having the location take an hour each way to get out and then to return really can cut into your sailing time. Also you didn't say where you wanted the boat to be. Near as I have been able to tell slip costs in the NE for 5 months costs the same as 12 months in the SE. Plus in the NE you need to haul and store the boat over the winter.
